I've tested the attractivity of various protein dry-fed protein subs. The
bees have very strong preferences.
Charlie, after experimenting with dry feeding pollen sub, I questioned its
nutritional benefit to the bees once they had made it into beebread (I
don't like to assume things). So I supplied samples to Patrick Maes and
Dr. Kirk Anderson to run an experiment. We recently published the results
in Molecular Ecology.
After aging for a short while as beebread, consuming the sub changed the
gut biota of the bees for the worse.
