I'll second that post Charles, and the one by Doug Ladd! We would all be the poorer without Bee-L.
It is particularly good that everything gets challenged - including me: very challenged at times as my maths, physics and chemistry stopped at A level and my main, degree level, qualification is in Operational Management - perhaps appropriate for trying to manage millions of bees!
At first, Bee-L and its major participants can be intimidating to someone without degree level (or higher) qualifications in the relevant subjects, but I do hope that many of us with years of practical experience and observation can at times contribute something useful; as has been noted, many of the world's great discoveries were made by those with little formal training.
Personally, I am surprised that everything remains generally good-tempered, given that e-mail is renowned for rapid-fire responses which are often regretted after reflection.
Best wishes
Peter
