We were discussing fall absconds and swarms earlier, Had a very odd one this week. Last Sunday evening I was doing mite checks in my home yard. One of the hives I used for comb honey ( made 3 full boxes) was pretty backfilled One hive body and a super, super completely filled. About 10 lbs of bees, the thought in my head was it may have been swarmy. Inspected, no brood no queen cells, a very good queen, and mites were at 2.
Fast forward to this Sat morning, box completely empty. Not a single bee no signs of fighting, hive completely robbed out and empty......
Never seen that before....
