Comment:
I have combed the research and can find no proof that breaking the brood cycle alone will cause a significant reduction in long term mite load. Most research combines brood break with miticide application or drone trapping. I have done drone trapping throughout the season and it is ultimately defeated by late season reinfestation. IMO, Late season reinfestation is the biggest problem in our region and wipes out the benefit of early season treatment.
