mild climate, where bees can often fly in any month.
Is that good for the bees? Mild, bees flying, but no forage! Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Actually, no they don't fly much, A few years back I was in CA in one of Adees holding yards. Around 20k hives. And it was warm and 70. I thought bees would be everywhere!, I stopped and was asounded at how few were flying, so I peeked at a few, good solid hives. Apparently when the scouts return with no news of food, they stay home and wait....
