The old word honeybee became honey-bee (Langstroth's Hive and the Hone-bee
for example). The final split comes, I think, from scientists using Latin
Genus species style to describe things. No one writes Apismellifera. So if
you are writing for a science series you should insist on "honey bee". But
for popular usage "honeybee" still correct. We don't insist on the UK
writers correct their spelling of colour or flavour even tho we all know
it's wrong.
Do not use your real name on the book if they insist on queen extruder.
Extruders are for I-beams and licorice twizzlers.
I wrote four "for hire" books and it was a great learning experience.
Writing is the easy part, Handling editors who don't know what they don't
know requires a gentle but firm hand, and thick skin.
