White and dry is how they are supposed to look. Off-white and slimy with
that strong formic smell is how they get when they have either expired or
experience temperature abuse. When the paper wrap breaks down like that,
the 3 day treatment becomes a 1 day flash treatment and that is when it can
be really hard on queens. A single strip treatment in late summer early
fall here seems to only knock the mites back for a couple of weeks. After
about two weeks they tend to be rate back where they were before. Two one
strip treatments does not equal one two strip treatment.
