Yes and Yes. You will want it lagged down well. There is a lot of
rotating mass when it is full of cappings and if it is a little off balance
(which it will likely always be to some extent) it will be really hopping
if not lagged to the floor. I owned a JR for one season before upgrading
to the SR. They both work best when the cappings are warm and added
gradually a little at a time during extracting. Trying to add whole pails
of cappings (even when prewarmed) is less ideal. When out of balance, they
can be a pain to get back into balance. The SR in particular takes a long
time to stop spinning after power is removed.
