But that would be the very highest of high-end estimates, as it is based on
"wall-to-wall bees" on every frame.
A better estimate would factor in the roughly spherical nature of most any
bee activity.
The "1750 bees per comb face" was for a rectangle 21.27 cm x 42.55 cm = 905
cm^2
The area of an ellipse that touches the edges of the same comb would be pi *
a * b, where "a" and "b" are half the width and length, so 10.6 * 21.2 =
705 cm^2 That's 78% of the rectangle area, so take 78% of the bees covering
the whole rectangular frame to get a maximum ellipse covered with bees.
So, 13.7K would be a better maximum estimate for "5 seams" than 17.5K
