The report says: 'Many beekeepers feed their honey bees sucrose or
high-fructose corn syrup...', so not just HFCS coming under attack. UK
beekeepers do not feed HFCS as far as I know.
It also says: '...the massive -- and as yet not fully explained -- annual
die-off of honey bees in the U.S. and Europe.' I have to say that here in
the UK we do NOT have a massive annual die-off. True we have had some
fairly heavy losses in recent years - but last winter there were virtually
no losses and we saw huge colonies in the early spring, bigger than I have
seen in the past 30+ years, and that led to more swarming than has been seen
for many a long year. Crops have been excellent and we are seeing colonies
going into winter in excellent condition.
No - sucrose is definitely not to blame in my view.
Best wishes
