This unconditional crusade against antibiotics seems to be the sole basis
for the entire discussion, now spanning several threads.
It seems reasonable as a reaction to the continued prophylactic use of
antibiotics like Tylosin and Oxytet and so on, but we still await even a
hint of a problem resulting from several decades of specifically Fumagillin
use against specifically Nosema.
As for "clear need" I'll take my cues from the responsible authorities with
veterinary responsibility over beekeeping in their respective states and
provinces. So far, they have not joined this crusade, due to a stark lack
of residues and resistance, despite a wide range of use and, one presumes,
abuse.
