To add to Karens   comment here in Il,  we actually have a nesting birds
program wheras road ditches are not to be mowed until a certain date (varies
by part of the state)   As soon as that date hits (about the time its in
full bloomn)  the mowing starts,  and its desecration of habitiat.    This
allpies to boath road ditches and waterways.
