Pete, there is evidence that refutes that hypothesis. You oversimplified
the Aussie model. In Australia, the managed population of yellow
Italian-type bees is quite different than the robust feral population of
dark mellifera-type bees. Selective breeding in Australia effectively
maintains two distinct populations on the continent.
Likewise, in the U.S., Sheppard/Delaney's or Salansky's work on mitotyping
demonstrate the same.
