I have tried dark rum in pollen substitute as a stimulant (read about
it in my 1956 Hive and Honeybee). I figured it was "local food" for
the girls. The boats used to take salt cod and potatoes from our
island down to the Caribbean and bring back rum.
I have used lemongrass oil and beeswax around the entrance hole on swarm boxes.
But until you put them together in the same sentence Randy I never
made the connection. Now maybe I need to leave the girls a sponge
with a bit of dark rum in the swarm box for a housewarming party.
