For a few years, I was somewhat concerned with the amount of package bees
being brought into the area each year. 400 +/-100.
Richard has a bit of a point in some areas, sounds like his in particular
may be a concern, but overall the percentage of packages distributed to non
migratory operations....(hobbyist) is about 10% of the number of colonies.
If your in the Dakotas, your hosed..... no natives and lots of packages.
Here in IL natives outnumber packaged 10-1 easy.... I would guess a lot of
Ohio is less than 10% packages, but do know of a cpl of migratory large
scale users.
