We find the same. We've yet to find the "perfect" application method for
formic acid, but MAQS is very user-friendly for the small- to medium-scale
beekeeper. Works for large scale, but you need to wear a respirator unless
it's windy. The beauty of a thorough formic treatment (such as 2 MAQS
strips) is that, unlike other treatments, it kills the mites under the
cappings. This makes a HUGE difference down the line. I also suspect that
it "cleans up" the combs during the short brood break in the first few days
after application, since the brood comes back so beautifully.
