To me 300# is below average. The longer one successfully
keeps bees in a area the more prolific the area becomes.

Are you suggesting keeping bees raises the productivity of a region?That's a new one on me. And where do you get that number _as an average_? I would have to see some proof. The average for most US states is far below that. I have kept bees for forty years, in various places, and to me the suggestion that hives should average 300# in any but the very best locations is unsupportable by the evidence.
