Also, the squarish imprint on the inside of the box over the round hole may
be where a small square of isinglass or glass was glued to make the light
hole a non-exit hole. The glass may be missing due to the cork (assumed to
be the "cover") being pushed in too hard once.
Beekeepers used corks a lot, but then, beekeeping tends to drive one to
drink, which implies lots of corks.
