The topic was studied extensively and the findings were published in a series of articles titled "Resistance to American foulbrood in honey bees", beginning in August 1956 and continuing to at least 1972. The authors included WALTER C. ROTHENBUHLER, VICTOR C. THOMPSON, ROBERT I. ROSE, JOHN D. BRIGGS, JOHN F. BAMRICK, THOMAS E. RINDERER, WILLIAM T. WILSON, to name a few. I haven't yet obtained all the articles yet,-- let alone read them. But when I do, I will let you know what they said.
