>>> I have tried several Hygienic queens and no differences to speak of in my yards?
Did you ask the queen producer(s) how he/she determines that the queens produced are hygienic? Queen producers can claim that their queens are hygienic but is there any follow up to check these claims? What are the consequences if their claims can't be verified?
I think it's a buyer beware situation. Before purchasing queens the buyer needs to ask the producer what has been done to determine that the queens produced are, in fact, hygienic. And, I think this should apply to not only the breeder queens, but to their progeny, the commercial queens offered for sale as hygienic. After all, the queen provides only 1/2 the genetics of her progeny. What is/are the source(s) of the drones that mate with the virgin queens?

Hi Bill and All
I buy my queen cells from a local producer who uses the pin prick
method that he learned from his father, a former researcher with Ag
Canada in Alberta. The OBA Tech Transfer Program uses liquid
nitrogen. Both are in the area of Guelph Ont and both swear by their
method(s)
