Hi Charles,

I do not know where you are located, but in the USA a car was about 2200.00 
in 1966.
I bought a Chevrolet Chevelle.
Gasoline was about 30 cents a gallon. My wife's father had a station.

You are right about packages sold by middlemen and increasing the price a 
lot.

Splits are going for 125.00 around North Alabama.
