Results of the vote on the draft report regarding the revised European Honey
Directive
On November 27, COM ENVI voted on the draft report of Julie Girling
regarding the revision of the Honey Directive. The ingredient/constituent
issue (for pollen in honey) represented a key point in the vote since the
opinion were divided and there were some amendments supporting
the views according to which pollen is a constituent of honey and some
supporting the views according to which pollen is an ingredient of honey.
The first voted were the amendments on ingredient and this have passed with
a narrow margin, therefore subsequent amendments on
constituent fell. The overall report was then adopted by a margin of 47-17.
There will not be trialogues before the Plenary vote which will take place
in the January plenary session.

Seems pollen will become an ingredient with a lot of consequences in Europe
and elswhere!

Kind regards,

Ghislain De Roeck,
Belgium.
