Not only that, but a lot of people have success feeding hard blocks of sugar candy in winter.
my comments..
there has been some mention recently of improvements in winter survival rates at northern location by those folks that use candy boards. at least according to the older text you do need to draw a line between a candy board and 'blocks of sugar' not only in how they are put together but also their potential benefit. by the older text a candy board is supplemental feed and a block of sugar is emergency feed. in most processes when you cut the corners so that making a product is easier it also means you have given up certain quality aspect of that product.
I suspect a lot of novice beekeeper as confused by this slight but significant difference in the language.
