I think it must have been Gladstone who told me that a simple way of
obtaining a crop of propolis is to remove one of the bars. The bees
soon build a screen to close the gap. Weather, wasps etc would make
that inadvisable here in the UK but I sometimes remove one bar and ease
the others apart slightly, but not by enough for a bee to get through.
Then, a visit or two later, I can apply a hive tool to get a harvest of
propolis.
