<< By conceding GMO labeling, companies would be essentially conceding that GM foods are significantly different from regular foods, which they are not. This would play right into the fears and superstitions of uninformed consumers, who know little or nothing about biology other than what they read about it in the scare media.>>
So, consumers don't have the right to know exactly what they are buying because they are too ignorant to decide. How arrogant is this? Should we ban vitamin supplements because they are not necessary in the context of a healthy diet? Should we dump homeopathic treatments because there is no proven efficacy? Who are the the autocrats empowered to decide what we may or may not know about the food we choose to purchase?
I think european consumers realize that our labelling regulations recognize that they have a modicome of intelligence and that our food suppliers respect their customers as having free will and rights.
