Hi Jim, and all,
I liked Jim's humorous post and I apologize for confusing him or anyone else on the list. It is difficult to communicate complicated things and while I am trying my best, I see that I am not getting the ideas across as well as I’d like. A good friend of mine, recently elevated to the distinguished rank of “emeritus” faculty in Neurobiology at Cornell, today sent me the lyrics to a song by another professor (Tom Lehrer), and it is sadly funny and apropos to my struggle to communicate here, so I am sharing it for you to enjoy too:

I will try in another post to be as clear as I can be and attempt to clear up confusion. It would of course help if people read through the whole string of posts, as the calculations I did today depend on a lot of material I already conveyed. However, summaries are valuable so, I'll summarize succinctly, and again, I'll try my best!
Christina
