Reports of the extinction of the Short-Haired Bumblebee were apparently
premature.
In the face of all the useless online petitions and fundraising purporting
to "save the bees", someone went out and bred some queens, and released them
in their formerly native habitat, and actually SAVED a bee!
It is not a US species, as we have nothing but the long-haired hippy-type
bumblebees here, but this UK bumblebee has been successfully reintroduced,
and is apparently bumbling about as best it can.
