by Jon Radojkovic
After corn was planted in Elmwood, Ontario, Cananda over 30 million bees turned up dead. Every bee examined had traces of neonicotinoids from the seed treatment. Neonicotinoids are commonly used as a seed treatment much to the detriment of bees. They are persistent in soil and water, and can be reabsorbed by plants if they remain in the soil. They bioaccumulate with repeated applications, and are neurotoxic in minute amounts.
