OA works as contact miticide. In my laboratory we tried to feed bees in cages with OA in sugar syrup in various concentrations, but bees did not touch any syrup. Control fed on sugar syrup.



 In hives we found also if you apply 50 ml of OA in syrup gave us 60% mite kill if you split the dose to 25 ml on top brood box and 25 ml on bottom brood box, you get above 95% if a colony is brood less. In case presence of brood efficacy is lower. You may then have to treat twice two weeks apart. I don't recommend more than 2 applications in late full to reduce any damage to wintering bees by OA.
