> From... "Huber's Observations on Bees" Volume II....
Please note that Huber was utterly incapable of "observation".
For the record, Francois Huber suffered from deteriorating vision when he
was in his teens, and was blind by the time he was studying bees, hence the
development of the "leaf hive". It seems his assistant sometimes told the
old fellow what he wanted to hear. But these days, we have 1080p digital
cameras for $100 from Logitech, and 3-terabyte drives for $125, so anyone
who wants should be able to record comb-building behavior with ease.
While I enjoy old beekeeping books immensely, they must be read with a large
bag of salt at hand, as too many gains of salt are required for a mere
shaker of salt to suffice. I divide beekeeping books into "early works of
fiction", "pre-World Trade invasive species", and "post-World Trade".
