http://www.beesfordevelopment.org/uploads/BfDJ85%20CABESI002.pdfIn the link they describe how they are introducing sustainable methods of beekeeping to assist women who have few opportunities in the local society.
I found the link interesting for two reasons: first that they harvested 200 kg of propolis. This is becoming an increasingly important product of the hive as it is an ingredient in things like salves, tinctures and toothpaste. I can produce only enough for my own use (I nibbled a bit this morning to boost the immune system as I am off to see people I seldom meet). At the Apimondiae that I have attended propolis has had nearly as much attention as honey.
The second reason is that it contains an obituary for Claire Chavasse. I thought of her only yesterday as I have on my kitchen notice board a print of an email she sent me giving her recipe for soda bread.
