Ag week (daily AG program) says the drought the worse in 50 years. Rain is
predicted for Saturday but too late for corn crops.
Privately some are saying we should not have burned up so much corn
(ethanol)
in our SUV's.
Wheat is headed for use in livestock feed but serious livestock feed
shortages are
predicted.
"Ag week" predicted a 10-15% increase in store food prices by spring 2013.
The states farm tours going on this week ( one east and one west) reported
on the show "Ag week"
report today the corn looks far worse than they thought.
Hard to say what HFCS (bee feed) prices will settle at as the corn is
harvested.
I am looking at feeding each hive quite a few gallons to make it though the
winter.
possibly 5-10 gallons per hive (from now until winter which is three months)
Roughly figuring say $4 a gallon the cost could run $20-40 per hive.
