I don't think so, I found several frames with capped honey immediately
surrounding cluster in bottom box.

starvation. Now begs the question, why didn't the bees move up to the
frames of honey >above them in the upper chamber? I am assuming the dead
cluster was in the bottom hive body and had frames of honey in the second
hive body above >them.
