Preparation cost, profit needed, and transportation costs.... boiled down to....cost + Profit + freight. And freight is travel 2, 3 more times to deliver, inspect and pickup, depending. So...the more hives you carry on the truck, the cost/unit freight goes down.
Profit is....honey crop lost, time, additional equipment if any, and how much is needed per hive to stay in business...
