Hi Randy and all
Thanks for all the work you do Randy on behalf of all beekeepers.
When it seems that nothing is happening with the dust problem it's
easy to jump on the messenger as I did with you because frustration
rises to the top. One of the beekeepers who lost 500-600 colonies
last year due to the corn dust apparently lost a similar amount this
year while PMRA are dealing with the problem. One news report says
they lost their home also. Jerry asks why cannot the PMRA issue
further data and I agree with him. Pete explained that the
government gagged the scientists. Many of you south of the border
are probably thinking "those liberal Canadians are acting like
commies" but our Prime Minister is a want-a-be George Bush.
I'm not sure why I'm so worked up about this issue, because I'm not
near any agriculture as I live in a deep river valley. I have talked
to the beekeeper mentioned above but my 20 hive maximum is nothing
compared to his operation. The dust incident makes us both little
guys in the eyes of the powers-that-be. I could drop out of
beekeeping with little ill-affect but its his livelihood.
Thanks again Randy, I apologize for jumping on you as I did!
