"5-gallon buckets of type-55 HFCS cost $44.08
We can buy 50# bags of sucrose for $22
Comments from you mathematicians and economists."
Not a mathematician nor economist but I was just mixing up some 2:1 today. 40 lbs of sugar in 20 lbs of hot water yielded just shy of 5 gallons. 10 more lbs would easily have overfilled the bucket. Irregardless of the concentration of sugar in the HFCS, even at 100%, which it certainly is not, at these prices you are ahead with the sugar if cost of ingredients are your only consideration.
