I had two EPS (Beemax) hives given to me this spring for free. For fun
I installed a nuc in one of them April 27th and they are now pretty
packed into two full deeps needing a super. I did not air them out at
all as they had been previously used but the owner said he glued em up
and threw nucs in them right away with no deleterious effects noticed.
For me I think they started off a bit slower due to some cold rainy
weather and the screened bottom boards but have started to pick up steam
with the weather improving. I have a nuc split that is busting at the
seams that will go into the other one so I can overwinter both to see
how they do. Not very helpful I know but will report back with any ideas
I have.

I must say that I am under the impression that having different
equipment that doesn't mix and match as well seems to be a downfall. On
the other hand the BeeMax hive top feeders are the best I have used.
Just wish I wasn't so cheap to put them on all 11 hives.

Keth
