I picked up a swarm off the ground the other day. They had been there a
while by the wax they had made around the dead leaves. A guy was laying on
the ground trying to shoot a woodchuck when he noticed that beside him in
the grass there were bees. Otherwise I do not think they would have been
found. It was interesting how they used dead leaves and a few bramble
leaves as the base of the comb.

I have heard of at least 10 swarms the past couple of weeks, very unusual
for Maine in late August.
