I think there is truth in this. I wonder how many of those failed introductions would have been successful if they’d had another couple of days. I only introduce about 100 new queens each season, so I’ve had the luxury of doing manual releases. There are still those occasions where they simply won’t accept her. 
My spring queen producer contacted me last month and said they were in the midst of a full, operation wide collapse….so, I guess this spring I’ll be following Grant’s route. I’ve always wanted mid March queens too but am going to make an overall spring management change. 
It is not a boring vocation.
