Easy.  Go to walmart.com or amazon or eBay.  Get a $12.95 indoor outdoor
thermometer.  Put the outdoor sensor where you want it in the hive.  Run
the wire down to the space underneath the hive where you keep the display
part of the device in a tupperware container.  The better thermometers
measure humidity (but not on the "outdoor" reading) as well.
