Good Day Beekeepers

Over the last two weeks, Tech-Transfer has been traveling across the province for various projects and trials and have noticed a higher level of varroa mites in many colonies. In our own yards, the mites levels have become apparent and it has become obvious that treatments are necessary at this point.

Therefore, we send this alert to check the mite levels in your colonies ASAP and get your treatments on right away if necessary, as the health of the winter bees is very important to the overwintering success of the colony. Damage by varroa mites at this time of the year can be very detrimental to the winter population.

Get out there and monitor your colonies! You may be shocked by what you find.
