Hello All,
One problem with mite kills in Louisiana is that fire ants can eat the dead
bees and brood very rapidly after a colony has been drastically weakened
(near death) or after a total kill. There is often little or no evidence
-- except the fecal patches on the cell walls -- to indicate varroa mites
as a probable cause of death.
