Bees of all kind feed on knotweed, almost like
a feeding frenzy. I would say knotweed is
third on my list for enjoyment watching bees
forage it. First is Devils Cane, second is sumac
followed by knotweed. Bees can be heard on
these flowers from many meters away.
On the subject of insects controlling knotweed,
I observed what I believe was; scientific name
'Wolly Worm' feeding on the leaves. I will tell
you that the Wooly Worm indicated it will
be a very mild winter.
