That's an interesting find. I always perk up my ears when Gene Robinson has something to say. One would reason that honey would be better for bees than cane sugar, and especially HFCS, but I never saw evidence of it. On the contrary, beekeepers have fed cane sugar for decades. HFCS, not so long.
But this paper gives honey good marks. That's an incentive for leaving the bees' honey and not stripping them down, only to feed sugar. I feed sugar to stimulate buildup in spring but never in the fall to make up for harvesting too closely. Maybe honey syrup would make a better spring stimulant.
