Good response to dearths with brood breaks and 2-3 brood breaks is a trait seen in the more or less tolerant bee we're monitoring.It leads to a skimpy box of bees that don't grow big but stay alive and use little resources. But they will put on some honey when a flow is on. Bit like the ponies you see on the northern islands. Small, hairy, shy and nervous. Not what people look for for racing or "normal horse activity". However, these ponies survive the climate without shelter, veterinairy bills are low and if you take the trouble of managing them they can carry loads and people. Lennard
