I've read several books (Collins Beekeeper Bible was the first) and I have a couple of videos that I keep around as reference. I will definitely check out the Swarms video from the Dadant site. One of the reasons I started beekeeping was because I was deathly afraid of bees so the final step to conquer my bee-phobia is to catch a swarm.
The knowledge I've gained since I started beekeeping has changed my appreciation of these great creatures. I was harvesting my grape vines (32kgs this year!) and I was being harassed by wasps. I was trying to let them do their thing but I saw one on my ladder and after patiently waiting for it to leave I was going to swat it away. I went to get rid of it and at the last second of my swing I noticed it was a honeybee, not a wasp. I averted my swing and observed the bee for almost 15 minutes. It was an interesting experience that I never would've had without being exposed to beekeeping.
Thanks again for the continual advice Bee-L. You are a fount of knowledge.
Cheers,
