I think you may be misinterpreting the question Pete. I think the question
regards the ability for bees to determine "net return" on a nectar source,
ie. forsaking a sugar rich source that is far away for a lesser source
close by. Energy spent flying to the distant, rich source may exceed the
overall yield vs. flying a short distance for a cheap sugar buzz. I know
Tom talks about this. It's one of the most fascinating things I find about
honey bees!
