Hayward Spangler did a series of tests on this at the Tucson Bee Lab in 
the 1980s, bolting a siren to a top cover.
He probably did not publish it, but you could contact the lab for a 
quick check.
As I remember, it had no effect, other than making us all feel sorry for 
his technician.
