Sustainability with Russian bees
With 250 hives I made 26 drums honey I also made 400 queen nucs and sold
800+ queens.
I do not use miticides but do use other antibiotics when needed.
No foul brood antibiotics needed with Russian honey bees.
Are there any large beekeepers who use Russian bees? Yes I know of 3
large operations (20000+ hives total).
Do they use miticides ? Yes but on an semiannual basis or less not 4 to
5 times a year.
Are there losses manageable? Yes they are increasing there hive count
because of the price of honey.
Do they make honey crop? Yes I know one beekeeper very well he runs
3000+ hives and shipped 8 loads honey last year 2012.
With beekeeping and other businesses location location location cannot
be stressed enough.
