I have no experience with Pol-Line but last season I got 6 VP Spartan
Queens. I lost two through the summer but four have done fine, very
strong brood patterns last summer. I have not opened them yet this
spring. I chickened out and treated for mites in the fall though these
queens come from stock untreated since 1999. They dropped as many
mites as the hives next to them. I do not think they have a chance in
a yard where the queens are a mix and the hives most likely all share
mites. I probably should have put them in their own yard away from
others to see how they deal with mites on their own. This spring I
have seen the hygienic behavior, two hives have had white pupae in
front of the hive the pupae have been all drone.
